I was right. Our first and only call was to Kaiser Sunset.
Why only one call? Well, Dispatch loves us enough that they sent us halfway to Arizona with our patient. It's the first time I've had to break out the emergency blankets and the urinal (and luckily, we didn't hit any large bumps during that venture).
Once we got there, the hospital had issues figuring out patient information, so we had to drive the patient back and forth between facilities in the city. Eventually, we delivered the patient and headed back.
Of course, that's when California decided that major roadwork would be ideal. Cue traffic and many, many detours... We got back to Los Angeles around 6 am. By that time, Dispatch owed us a few C-7's (meal breaks), so our shifts ended before they could give us another call.
Yeah. Strikes affect EVERYONE. If you're ever thinking about striking, please do make sure it's big enough of an issue that you can inconvenience many other people.
Our patient, for instance, was sent far enough away that he won't be able to have family visit him -- not to mention the high fees incurred as a result of needing a pointless transfer out of Kaiser Sunset.
