The First Time

I can't put into words what I know or what I feel; it doesn't make sense just as I'm sure it didn't make sense to me, then.

But what I do remember is laughing in the dark and running panic-stricken down a hallway for safety, but being turned away. I remember a void, like I sometimes feel at night, an empty weightlessness where thoughts just drift away.

It's hard to mourn what you cannot remember but somehow innately know was real.

That was the day your world changed, and you cannot even remember.
