Freedom is finally building up the courage to say your last goodbye to a difficult chapter in your past. It's the intense feeling of relief after hitting the little "x" next to that person's name on Facebook, knowing that they will find out the next time they try to message you. It's knowing that you finally had the strength to stand up for yourself once and for all, and to cut off the last symbolic tie of the relationship you once had.
It's knowing that you'll no longer be tempted to "find out how his life is going" every time you see his face on your newsfeed. It's knowing you'll no longer be thrown back into bad memories every time you see a new picture and recognize the expressions in his eyes.
And it's knowing that the only reason you still keep his contact in your phone is so that if he ever calls, you'll know not to answer.

Perhaps the last is a paradox, but it works for me. At least until I figure out how to block the number, once and for all.
